Claims Info - Motor Vehicle Theft

All motor insurers exclude theft of motor vehicles when keys (traditional or electronic keys/cards) have been left in or on the motor vehicle when the vehicle is left unattended (by which Insurers mean there is no one present in the vehicle) at the time of theft.

In these circumstances it is highly unlikely that an Insurer will make any payment in the event of theft of the vehicle.

In all circumstances we'll need you to:

· Report the theft to the police and obtain a crime reference number
· Request a claim form from us
· Return the claim form to A Manning UK Limited with:
· All sets of keys
· Vehicle Registration Document
· Purchase documents/servicing receipts

The claims notification condition under your policy requires that events, which may give rise to a claim, are notified to us immediately.  Difficulties often arise in identifying incidents that are likely to result in claims.

In some circumstances it is not clear whether a formal claim will follow.  This is particularly so for incidents involving third parties.  Their intentions are often not known and in some instances a policyholder may feel they are not liable for the incident itself.

In many circumstances, experience tells us that the characteristics of the incident will mean that a formal claim is inevitable at some point and in these circumstances clients should not delay notifying the incident to us.
